The country's largest textile strike in recent times which involved more than 6 million textiles workers has been suspended following textile minister Dayanidhi Maran's personal intervention.
Dayanidhi Maran said, ďWill take up export of raw cotton and yarn.Ē
Maran assured the textile industry that he will take up the matter of export of raw cotton and yarn which the industry believes is the root cause of exceptional increase in cotton prices in the india.
Industry body Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) said textile firms would like to give the governemnt a chance to take positive action. In case the government fails to take any action there is a possibility of an indefinite strike about which they will decide in due course.
